Why This Course Matters

Whether you’re a sports coach, teacher, parent, colleague or simply someone who cares about others, there will be times when a person turns to you because they trust you.

You don’t need to be a counsellor to make a positive difference. Sometimes recognising the signs, knowing how to start a conversation and understanding how to respond with confidence can be enough to help someone take the next step towards the support they need.

For sports coaches in particular, we often build strong relationships with the people we coach. We may be among the first to notice changes in behaviour, confidence or wellbeing. This course provides practical skills to help you recognise when someone may be struggling and respond in a safe, supportive and compassionate way. Together, we can create stronger clubs, healthier communities and environments where people feel seen, heard and understood.
